Date: Sep 20, 2012 Like many architects, our firm is concerned about the impact of our work on the environment; and thus we are developing design strategies to implement the goal of the 2030 Challenge to reduce fossil fuel consumption in buildings. These design strategies are not as simple as just dropping some PV panels on the roof, but require the integration of new and emerging technologies with time honored building practices to produce energy efficient and sustainable buildings.
The AIA+2030 Professional Series provided us valuable tools and strategies to help us meet the 2030 Challenge. The series introduced us to experts in the field of sustainable design and provided a great forum for like-minded professionals to discuss best practices and lessons learned.
I would strongly urge all design professionals to participate in the AIA+2030 Professional Series. Energy efficiency standards are quickly changing our industry and this series provides design professionals the relevant knowledge and skills to lead the change.
