For 24 years, Roughton Nickelson De Luca Architects, PA has been providing enduring design solutions for our clients throughout North Carolina. In that time, our healthcare, educational, governmental, and commercial clients have come to depend on the high level of professional service that we provide and maintain.

We work on a variety of projects of all sizes and complexities including new construction, renovations, historic restoration, and adaptive re-use projects. We provide programming, master planning, feasibility studies, condition assessments, ADA assessments, space planning and interior design services.

We are a diverse group of designers from around the world integrating a multitude of talents and abilities into our award winning designs. Our professional staff includes seven registered architects, dedicated support personnel, seasoned construction administrators, and a talented interior designer with 35 years of experience. RND is proud to have seven registered LEED professionals on staff with the knowledge and skills to successfully implement green building practices into our projects.

Our design team is dedicated to the newest technologies in integrated project delivery and believes a collaborative design process with all members of the project team (designers + owners) produces the most successful projects on time and on budget. Our Building Information Modeling technology is critical to engaging all members of the project team in open communication.

Originally founded in 1987 as Lucien Roughton, AIA, PA, the firm changed its name in 2002 to Roughton Nickelson De Luca Architects, PA (RND) to reflect the addition of partners Charles Nickelson and Gustavo De Luca. David Daniel joined the firm as partner in 2011. Consistently growing in size and capabilities, RND now has two office locations in Durham and Graham, NC.
