Karylee Laird

Architectural Designer

Since joining RND’s team in 2015, Karylee has established herself as a talented designer and Revit Building Information Modeling expert. Her knowledge of 3D modeling helps standardize the firm’s practices and assists our teams in producing detailed presentation drawings and construction documents. Karylee’s role has recently expanded to also include project management and construction administration.

Prior to studying architectural design, Karylee earned a BA and MA in economics. Her concentration was in labor economics and her thesis was on temporary workers and their growth in the labor force. As a result of these studies, she is attuned to labor shortages in construction trades and the ways in which immigration, the emphasis on a four-year degree, and other factors are influencing wages and workers.

Karylee taught Revit classes at Durham Technical Community College for several years and has enjoyed completing home improvement projects. She designed and built a garage addition for her home and has made improvements to a number of acquired rental properties. Perhaps most impressively, Karylee also earned a black belt in taekwondo.
