Partial renovation of the existing NC State Legislative Building Auditorium to better accommodate presentations and press conferences. Included within the scope is a thorough code review, finish upgrades, and the design of new seating arrangements.

Durham County Stanford Warren Library Building Enclosure
RND is providing architectural assistance and design services for the design of building envelope improvements at the Durham County Stanford Warren Library. The facility has a long history of flooding during heavy rain events which has severely impacted the building’s performance. Our team will help prioritize improvements, produce cost estimates, and provide design solutions.

UNC Lenoir Dining Hall Addition
Lenoir Dining Hall is located at the heart of UNC Chapel Hill’s campus. It neighbors The Pit, a highly active student gathering area, as well as several other prominent campus buildings. RND was awarded this exciting project which will increase the existing dining hall’s seating capacity.
Our team conducted extensive site investigations, surveys, and analyses to identify the most strategic location for the project addition. We then proposed several design schemes through sketches, diagrams, and renderings in combination with preliminary cost estimates to advance the project from schematic design to design development.

Town of Cary: Carpenter Fire Station Road Neighborhood Park
RND Architects is pleased to join the design team lead by Surface678 on the design a new facilities at Carpenter Fire Station Road Park and McCrimmon Park in Cary, NC. The new neighborhood parks will integrate recreation amenities within the beautiful rolling topography, mature tree canopy, and existing creeks. Among structures for shade and support, RND will design a restroom/shelter facility as well as provide a feature along the open lawn.

NC DOJ 4th Floor State Crime Lab Renovation
This project involves the complete renovation of the State Crime Lab’s fourth floor, including the design of new modern lab areas for processing work. In addition, the scope involves repairs to the exhaust/HVAC systems, a roof replacement, and the design of improved office space for lab staff.

Durham County Sheriff’s Firing Range Improvements
This project will involve the renovation of Durham County’s existing pistol and rifle practice firing range facilities, as well as the design and construction of a new maintenance and training facility. In addition to these architectural improvements, the project will involve extensive site upgrades and the construction of a new parking lot and additional firing venues. We are partnered with Engineered Designs, Inc. and Coulter Jewell Thames, PA.

Salisbury State Veterans Home Renovation & Addition
Construction has begun at the Salisbury State Veterans Home! This project will transform the outdated aesthetic of the building, which was originally constructed in 1965. The renovation will include comprehensive interior finish upgrades, the construction of a large multi-purpose event area and winter garden, and extensive building system improvements.
Construction was strategically phased to maintain building occupancy and is scheduled for completion this June.

Chapel Hill OBGYN Clinic Renovation
Renovation involving minor floor plan changes, including the expansion of the nurse station area and the addition of exam rooms and accessible toilet rooms. In addition, we provided interior finish upgrades and the design of new casework to integrate with the existing.

ASU Panhellenic Hall Elevator Modernizations
Modernization of two elevators on Appalachian State University’s campus including upgrades to the drives, cables, doors, operators, controllers, interior finishes, and associated life safety systems. Two new elevator machines have been installed, the hoistway improvements are in progress, and the target completion date is in August 2020.

Durham Judicial Annex Renovation
LEED Certified renovation of the first and second floors of the Judicial Annex building, including architectural upgrades, an elevator replacement, and new furnishings, signage, and graphics.
