UNC-CH Marsico BRIC – 9.4T MRI Renovations


This project will renovate an unused computer server room on the basement level to house a new MRI and associated support and equipment rooms. The new MRI suite will require specialized floor and wall shielding, as well as the construction of an isolated floor slab to limit building vibration.

Durham County Stanford Warren Library Building Enclosure


RND is providing architectural assistance and design services for the design of building envelope improvements at the Durham County Stanford Warren Library. The facility has a long history of flooding during heavy rain events which has severely impacted the building’s performance. Our team will help prioritize improvements, produce cost estimates, and provide design solutions.

Town of Cary: Annie Jones Park Building


This project invovles the design of a new “front door” facility for the Annie Jones Park in Cary. The new restroom and storage building will replace an existing structure to bring it up to current code. Though simple in program, the building will make an architectural statement and frame the entry to the park.

Durham County Sheriff’s Firing Range Improvements


This project will involve the renovation of Durham County’s existing pistol and rifle practice firing range facilities, as well as the design and construction of a new maintenance and training facility. In addition to these architectural improvements, the project will involve extensive site upgrades and the construction of a new parking lot and additional firing venues. We are partnered with Engineered Designs, Inc. and Coulter Jewell Thames, PA.

UNC Lenoir Dining Hall Addition


Lenoir Dining Hall is located at the heart of UNC Chapel Hill’s campus. It neighbors The Pit, a highly active student gathering area, as well as several¬† other prominent campus buildings. RND was awarded this exciting project which will increase the existing dining hall’s seating capacity.

Our team conducted extensive site investigations, surveys, and analyses to identify the most strategic location for the project addition. We then proposed several design schemes through sketches, diagrams, and renderings in combination with preliminary cost estimates to advance the project from schematic design to design development.

Town of Cary: Carpenter Fire Station Road Neighborhood Park


RND Architects is pleased to join the design team lead by Surface678 on the design a new facilities at Carpenter Fire Station Road Park and McCrimmon Park in Cary, NC. The new neighborhood parks will integrate recreation amenities within the beautiful rolling topography, mature tree canopy, and existing creeks. Among structures for shade and support, RND will design a restroom/shelter facility as well as provide a feature along the open lawn.

NC State Legislative Building Auditorium Renovation


Partial renovation of the existing NC State Legislative Building Auditorium to better accommodate presentations and press conferences. Included within the scope is a thorough code review, finish upgrades, and the design of new seating arrangements.

Elon Nursing Department at the Francis Center Renovation


Renovation involving minor floor plan changes to the existing Francis Center conference room, Dean’s Office, and student lounge. The project will re-configure these spaces to include additional offices, a workroom, and an improved student lounge and break room. Improvements will also be made to several Level 2 spaces to create a new Dean’s office and Sim Classrooms.

Salisbury State Veterans Home Renovation & Addition


Construction has begun at the Salisbury State Veterans Home! This project will transform the outdated aesthetic of the building, which was originally constructed in 1965. The renovation will include comprehensive interior finish upgrades, the construction of a large multi-purpose event area and winter garden, and extensive building system improvements.

Construction was strategically phased to maintain building occupancy and is scheduled for completion this June.

Chapel Hill OBGYN Clinic Renovation
