Emily Currier, Assoc. AIA
Architectural Designer
“As an architect, you design for the present with an awareness of the past, for a future that is essentially unknown.”
Emily joined the RND team as an Architectural Designer in 2023. She earned a Master of Architecture from Norwich University in Vermont. She spent a semester abroad in Berlin, Germany, where she developed an appreciation for European architecture and culture that can’t be taught in the classroom. This experience encouraged her to broaden her knowledge of design and construction, helping her think outside the box—even if those insights may not always apply directly in North Carolina. She has 3 years of design experience and is on track to become a registered architect.
Emily has a keen eye for creating functional and visually influential spaces, whether it be higher education or healthcare. Some of her most notable projects include the Duke Office of Counsel, UNC Chapel Hill’s Carroll and Dey Halls, and the Europa Center office upfits. Emily is a highly motivated and dedicated designer who is determined to deliver successful design solutions. She is inspired by Mies Van Der Rohe’s “less is more” philosophy, and truly believes that simplicity over complexity in a design can have a more powerful impact.
Emily’s passion for architecture comes from her father, who worked in the field. She was surrounded by architecture in childhood and decided to pursue it as a career. In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with her English bulldog, Angus.
