Eric Wennerstrom, Assoc. AIA
Architectural Designer
“As a lifelong Durham resident, I’ve seen how architecture shapes a city’s cultural identity and the importance of transforming existing structures for their users. Contributing to the place that has shaped me personally and professionally has been invaluable. Moving forward, my goal is to create beautiful, functional spaces in every community we serve, inspiring others to do the same.”
Eric is an Architectural Designer who started at RND as an intern in 2023. Eric holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from NC State University, where he spent a semester abroad in Prague. He is now on track to become a registered architect.
Eric enjoys working on a wide range of projects, from government buildings to higher education. One of Eric’s standout projects is the Durham County Board of Elections Renovation, where he contributed to the visualization of the design and gained insight into unique construction details. He is highly adaptable, skilled at design conflict resolution, and thoroughly proficient in architectural visual representation—particularly through his renderings and photography. His time studying abroad in Prague sparked a strong interest in public spaces and urban design, especially in how exterior spaces influence the overall experience.
Eric discovered his passion for architecture during school, in a Civil Engineering and Architecture class, which shifted his focus from engineering to architectural design. Outside of work, Eric enjoys photography and cooking.
