Elon Powell Hall Renovation

Powell Hall is one of six original buildings that form the heart of Elon University. In 2010, the university commissioned RND to transform the historic building through comprehensive design and construction administration services.

The ultimate goal of this 12,000 square foot renovation project was to provide full accessibility to the building, upgrade the main corridors, renovate the classrooms, and enhance the thermal value of the windows to reduce energy consumption.

The design team also re-mediated building code violations, upgraded the structure’s lighting systems, and designed new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes. In addition, our teams installed a new hydraulic elevator into the existing structure. As a result of this comprehensive renovation, the historic building was re-vitalized and given new life as a productive and beautiful campus facility.
