Marsico Hall BRIC 3T MRI Renovation

This renovation in the sub-basement of the ten-story 325,000 SF Marsico Hall was a 4,084 SF renovation of an existing storage room. RND proposed structural augmentation of the light-gage framing to hold the weight of the new 3T Siemens MRI. New configuration of the space included the MRI Room and its requisite Control and Equipment Rooms. New Exam Rooms and a unisex toilet were added for research patient participants. Upgrades were made to the building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection, and process chilled water systems to accommodate the new MRI. RND worked closely with Tom Loter of the School of Medicine to schedule construction impacts to adjacent departments to minimize disruption to ongoing research.
