Adjacent to UNC’s historic Pit, center of social life on campus, this outdoor dining addition to Lenior Dining Hall was envisioned to provide flexible outdoor seating that could be closed and heated during the winter. This addition reflects the North Carolina vernacular of “front porch” socializing. Wifi and charging stations provide for outdoor study spaces for students and faculty to work or relax between classes. Ceiling fans and outdoor heaters make this usable space most of the year while providing for expanded seating capacity for the dining hall.
