Jennifer MacDonald, Assoc. AIA
Architectural Designer
“Through thoughtful architecture, we have the opportunity to advocate for inclusivity, equity, and a sustainable future.”
Jennifer has been a part of the RND team since 2022, after starting her design career in 2019. She holds a Master of Architecture from NC State University and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Building Science from Appalachian State University, where she studied abroad for a summer in Paris. Jennifer earned a Graduate Certificate in Public Interest Design from NCSU, is a certified SEED AP, and is on track to become a registered architect. As an Architectural Designer, she is pragmatic, detail-oriented, and a skilled problem solver. She is committed to creating spaces that go beyond aesthetics and functionality, always considering the long-term implications of design decisions. With a philosophy rooted in inclusive, community-driven design, she believes that architecture has the power to enact positive change and leave a lasting, meaningful impact. She works on a diverse range of projects at the firm, with a primary focus on higher education and municipality projects. A couple of notable projects Jennifer has worked on include the Alleghany County Office Building Renovation and the McMichael Science Center at Elon University.
Jennifer’s passion for architecture began at a young age, inspired by her love for drawing and watching her mother return to school for architectural and landscape design. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys traveling and exploring historical cities, spending quality time with family and friends, and relaxing with her cat.
